We are excited for the future and our continued growth! Our Technology Services team is seeking a talented individual for the role of Tax Product Manager.  This position may reside in any of our office locations. There will be some travel to other office locations or for training (<25%).

 

The Tax Product Manager will be a member of the Technology Services team building tools to support the firm and our clients.  Using an agile framework, the ideal candidate will work closely with teammates within Technology Services as well as other team members from across the Firm to drive the innovative use and wide-spread adoption of Tax technology solutions with an eye toward driving increased revenue, efficiency and quality.  This covers all areas of the product lifecycle including needs analysis, product road mapping, development of enhancements and business implementation. 


Teamwork and collaboration are critical to this role as the Tax Product Manager will work closely with not only other members of Technology Services and the Tax practice but stakeholders from the Assurance and Advisory Service Lines and Cohen Shared Services functions as well. Further, this role will serve as a key advisor to senior leaders and Partners across the firm to help drive Firm priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for maximizing the return on investment for the technology toolset used by Cohen & Company’s Tax practice
  • Business product owner for technology solutions developed to support the Tax practice
    • Drive solution vision based on Market opportunities, Practice delivery needs, and technology trends
    • Collaborate with key business stakeholders and the development team, including third party vendors, to develop the strategic roadmap and underlying stories, including owning business priority of those stories
    • Partner with the development team, notably the Tax Business Analyst/Scrum Master, continuously to write and refine stories with appropriate acceptance criteria, resolve issues and business roadblocks, and test results as part of the Agile delivery process
    • Create product training materials, support enablers, and implementation plans
    • Technology solutions owned include, but not limited to:
      • TaxLink – our custom developed Tax platform
      • CCH Axcess – our primary third-party Tax engine software
      • Tax functionality within CohenWorks – our cross-service line workflow platform
    • Business implementation lead for all technology solutions used by the Tax practice
      • Drive adoption of technology solutions within the practice, including creating/facilitating training and communication
      • Maintain a network within the practice to be leveraged to understand needs and vet solutions
      • Monitor the use of Tax technology solutions to ensure appropriate ROI is achieved and to identify improvement opportunities for the tools and/or implementation activities
      • Serve as the voice of the practice with other business product owners and Technology Services leaders to ensure Tax practice needs are properly factored into product visions and roadmaps
    • Pursuit & Engagement Support
      • Answer “Level 3” business usage questions submitted to support
      • Serve as consultant to pursuits and engagements on best use of tools to meet client objectives, as needed
      • Participate in pursuit activities, including presentations, regarding the use of the Firm’s technology solutions, as needed
    • Actively participate in team activities and knowledge sharing, including scrum ceremonies
    • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge on Tax regulatory needs, technologies, and processes
    • Actively participate in definition and refinement of team processes and activities

Qualifications

Core Competencies

  • 5+ Expertise as Tax practitioner.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner on a Scrum team or performing similar role owning the day-to-day business priorities and requirements working with technology teams.  Certifications a plus.
  • Experience with Jira a strong plus.
  • Experience documenting, analyzing processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Teamwork skills essential, with demonstrated success working with resources across organizations.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

    • Instructing users spanning all levels on best practices and usage instructions
